What began on February 23 ended on March 6! My home team lost but was not defeated. What transpired 175 years ago transcends sports. It was a saga of the human spirit and for me personally changed my life as well as countless others. What happened there is just a part of the spirit of the west in which all Americans share. Good people on boths sides fought and died .
When I see the display of six flags that have flown over Texas. I am reminded not of an amusement park but of the symbols of the six national flags that have flown over an area know as Texas. Not of a landscape but of people that had a vision of the possibilities not limited by a man made border. I am also reminded of a native American nation that was here long before the first Europeans arrival. Herein lies the stories and the true spirit of the west.
